I was traipsing around on the 'net, and I stumbled across USB Drives with female connection ports and tiny rechargeable L-ion batteries. Would it be feasible to assume someone could modify its software (like strip it and install a barebones Windows/Leopard OS, or something of that sort, just enough to detect the iPod connection and run a 1-click Jailbreaker/booter automatically)?

Wouldn't be worth all the time to do it I think.

Any chance you could provide a link to what you're describing? They sound interesting. Thanks in advance

Didn't musclenerd talk a little about this? He said that it shouldn't be too hard and all the parts would cost about 20 bucks.

I'm just assuming that the untethered is never going to come out/is very far off. I could also use it to set up a "Jailbreak Your Ipod for 10 bucks" stand by the side of the road. If I can find the link to the Drive again, I'll post it; hang on a minute.

"Size capacities range from 512MB to 2GB, with prices starting at $96."
    >>$96
Thats probably not the best aproach to making such a device.

Not specifically that one, I'm sure there are others; I'm just showing an example of one.

    Thanks for finding it

Unfortunately the chance of using this for a reboot dongle is slim to none (closer to none than slim). The hardware inside most likely consists of a single processor designed to perform only the task required. Which means the main part of the device would have to be replaced, and it is much more economical to buy a battery and make the hardware yourself.

Ah. It was just a thought. I wish they made cheap software executers you could fit in your pocket for 15 bucks...I would totally buy that...although it DOES seem kinda fun to make my own dongle...if only I knew any programming past Blitz Basic...
