So my iPod's power button doesn't work, and therefore I can't jailbreak 2.1 using Windows QuickPwn, and I'm stuck on an un-jailbroken 2.1..

Is there anyway to get into the correct mode without using my power button?

erm.. yes there is.. well i pwned my ipod doing this and it worked fine

1)turn ipod off and unplug it from computer or mains supply
    2)hold down home button
3)still holding down home button plug into computer
4)keeping holding home button down until itunes recognizes it in recovery mode

uhhh, if his power button is broken and his ipod isnt jailbroken, theres no way he can turn it off.......

    EDIT: 800 Posts

well i guess he could wait for the battery to die, then plug it in, but even that im pretty sure turns it on...

so, best bet is just to take it to apple and get a new one. but be careful cause your warranty might be up soon...

I didn't break it.. It's a relatively common problem with the flimsy crappy little switches Apple put on - it's sort of temperamental.. The first time, it broke after 3 weeks.. I sent it back to Apple, they sent it back saying there was no problem, and it worked..
Then it worked again for about 6 months, then started working sometimes, not others..
Then it went through a period of working again for 2 months or so, and now it's just decided to give up again..

I'd call Apple, but I've already used up my 1 free service with the first send-out..

    Uhh

I have a similar problem but I think there's something wrong here.

Im currently waiting for it to die xD and so I unplug it and theres a picture that shows a finger pressing down the power button and the home button...is that only on there because I need to plug it in after its off or because I need to use the power button after it died?

Sorry if this is confusing :/
