This is a discussion thread for the "Post Resignation, AAPL Down $20 in After-hours Trading" story posted on the front page.
It dropped because people think Tim Cook will screw something up so they are pulling out now. Technically speaking that's a smart move, but who knows what Apple will do now.
Have you noticed how bad the iOS updates have been after Jobs left. After 4.2.1 all the updates sucked. But Apple is already so famous they can't completely ruin themselves easily.
The latest Steve Jobs' updates were: 4 = Apple's version of multitasking, saving a lot of resources, folders & other 98 features. 4.1 = Game Center. 4.2 = AirPlay. And then without Steve, 4.3, local wifi with i4 only? that's nothing compared to past updates. And 5 is also nice, but compared to other full-version updates it is lame. I remember waiting so much for iOS 4, but 5 is really not exiting. 2 = AppStore. 3 = Push, search, in-app payment and more. 4 = Already said. Compared to this, 5 is... nothing
And to the last paragraph, this is in wake of all the articles being posted lately about Apple that quite bluntly say it is the best company in existence. Well 'how d'you like them apples?' (Pun intended) A company reaches a peak, but it has to come down. And that time is now.
That is indeed devastating news for Apple, i.e. having to lose their visionary for the past 14 years. While I see short-term dips in AAPL's share price, I for one hope that Tim can steer the ship well and bring the company to greater heights. Anyway, don't forget that despite not being involved in day-to-day operations, Steve is still an "Apple employee" as well as Chairman of the Board, i.e. he is still around!
