Possibly the first really bricked iPod

    My iPod is possibly the first really bricked iPod ever,
    i tried to restore to 1.1.4 from DFU-Mode with iTunes 7.7 and 7.5 but neither works...

    "The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error occured (1601)."

    Before you ask:
    Yes, i am certainly in DFU-Mode
    Yes, i did reinstall iTunes (both Versions ... twice)
    Yes, i did reboot
    No, i cant access my iPod anyway (Black screen) since you can't wake it up from DFU Mode
    Yes, it is completely charged

    :/ Please help meee

    Else im going to have to drive a looong looong way to the next apple store

    not bricked... i had the same problem, i sorted it easily tho
    i got a tool of the internet to sort it

    Because getting a restore error SSOOO means it's bricked, right?

    so what would you call it?

    an ipod without firmware on it and no way (that i found) put a firmware on it ...

    i would call it bricked, yes

    i have not found any case in which the ipod couldnt be restored in dfu mode
