I think this method could be used for untethered 3G jailbreak..

    1. Force Send iPod Touch to Safe Mode on boot.
    2. Exit Safe mode allowing it to go back to JBed iPod
    3. Untethered?

I think it has to do with the bootrom alone that makes it unable to boot period without a jailbreak.

Hmm, that's true. But I'm thinking a crash on the springboard every launch and a safe mode "restart". Maybe a exploit to modify safe mode and make it launch jailbreak?

You don't just "launch a jailbreak"

No offence and thanks for trying to contribute to the community but I think this should be left to the people who know what they're talking about.

Lol, wait WTF was I thinking... Screw what I said. I meant use a tethered jailbreak like blackra1n and find a exploit to modify safe mode..

OK so say you exploit safe mode. The Bootrom still won't boot into safe mode because it will detect that safe mode has been changed. So it still fails.

OK... semi tethered has nothing to do with this situation.

The only way to achieve untethered is to hack the bootrom to run unsigned code on boot. There is no other way and as of yet no one has found a hole. 24kpwn was work of genius, both in discovery and implementation.

But can't they do semitethered? But if reboot, you will be sent to safemode?
