I have an iPhone 3G running 3.1.3. I never use Spotlight and Push Notifications kill my battery really fast. Also, 2.2.1 ran better and cleaner on my device. Is it possible to to go back? I have tried it by an option-restore while in DFU, but I keep getting the infamous error 16xx

EDIT: I had a brain fart. First part was removed.

You'd still have to have your SHSH hashes backed up on Cydia, anyways, which I'm assuming you didn't do.

    GUYS! read!!!
He said he has an iphone 3G, which dos not have SHSH checks

you CAN downgrade to 2.x.x by using itunes 7.x and put your ipod in dfu mode

But in my opinion its not worth to downgrade to 2.x

JUST do a full restore to 3.1.2 and dont install any sh*t from cydia that would slow down your device

IT will run overall better because the restore will clean your iphone

Well 3.0 didn't really bring any useful features besides copy and paste and bluetooth. he said he doesnt need those features and besides, 2.x runs crazy fast on my ipod 1g, but 3.1.1 lags a lot.

    mmm... not sure about that
In my opinion 3.1.2 is just as fast as 2..x was on 2G ipod touch 32GB
If anything i have more free memory on 3.1.2 that i previously had with 2.x

The thing is that many apps are dropping support for 2.x.x, and MOST if not all jailbroken apps dropped 2.x support
