Libusb causes a bunch of problems on my vista comp: bsod's that sort of thing. Now that we only need to send "run rs" can a program be made that doesn't need the libusb driver?

    Need LibUSB
Do you use a booter? If you do just make a bat file:
Or just open a cmd prompt before you shutdown your comp & run the last part, "C:\Program Files\LibUSB-Win32\bin\install-filter.exe -u". I was actually thinking the other day, i think Windows lets you set programs to run at startup/shutdown, i'll look into having LibUSB automatically shut off with Windows, sure it can't be that hard

just wondering. How does a calculator and a dongle do it? why can't we send it over the computer in the way those two do.

Good point, I guess they have their own LibUsb. Because LibUsb is the 'driver' to communicate with the iPod

Yeah it does seem a little fishy that dongles and calculators any maybe even phones can send 8 bites raw across usb no problemo, but computers have all sorts of problems.

Has anyone even tried the run rs method without libusb?

    Hi

When I try to run the first line in CMD, it works, but when I try to make a .bat file with the same line, it just won't work

When I doublelclick on the .bat file I get a message, but it's difficult to read because it closes so fast. But it says "unknown command" or something...

    Onyone knows whats wrong?

    vista 32 bits.

try this. the first one attaches it. When you are done with libusb push a key to continue and it will detach allowing you to shutdown without the bsod.

    "C:\Program Files\LibUSB-Win32\bin\install-filter.exe" -i

    pause

    "C:\Program Files\LibUSB-Win32\bin\install-filter.exe" -u

Worked very well with the "".

But after I run the "install-filter -u" is libusb supposed to get uninstalled?
Because the quicktether says libusb is still installed, even after I run the -u thing...

And a last question, why do we run -u ? Why do we have to shut down / uninstall libusb?
