When I say its possible , it means that it may or may not work. As we all do know that ipt 3g (is it even 3g) 8gb doesn't work with geohots tool , as it pawns the device but then it forces the device back to DFU. I was thinking of flashing it with iPod Touch 2G firmware (as remember iPod Touch 3G 8GB is a rebranded 2G) pawned by PwnageTool

I just want someone to test it out. you need to have access to iPod Touch 3.1 firmware (not 3.1.1/3.1.2) but pure 3.

    1. Pawn it with geohots tool

    2. It will automatically set it to DFU

    3. Try restoring it with a pawned iPod Touch 2G 3.1 firmware with pawnagetool or ask your mac friend to make one for you

Let me know the results. If it works , that means its possible to pawn the new re-branded 2G iPod Touch.

This is just a hypothesis anyway - the real solution is to wait for dev-team or geohot to come up with a proper fix

I did not test this out because I dont have a touch 3g

Lol, at the "Pawn", "Pawned", and "Pawnagetool".

No it won't work because the iPod touch (2.5G) can only use the iPod3,1 firmware, even though it looks the same as the iPod Touch 2G.

Whats the difference in using geohots tool or not, why don't you just put it straight into DFU mode?

I need someone to test it out , cause technically speaking it uploads the code and then patches the kernel and stuff. Therefore it should able to accept a 3.1 firmware. This is according to the text books. I could be wrong

You can't use Dev-tool pawnagetool to an unpwned 3.1 iPod Touch 3G first. since geohot pawns the device but instead of rebooting the device its stucked in DFU. Now technically speaking since it has pawned , it should able to take pawned firmwares to it. Therefore it should work.

I beg to differ , the hardware is not iPod3,1 , its iPod2,1. Try using iPod3,1 firmware to 2,1 you'll notice it says its not meant for this hardware. even if you dig up for it , its 8gb. The firmware are identicial. Dont believe me , read in this article
