Gabe Newell took to the stage at Sony's E3 press Conference at E3 as part of the promised "surprise" from Valve.

Introduced by Portal's GladOS, he was understandably nervous about appearing in front of console gamers - people he's been hard on in the past. Kevin Butler introduced himself as "VP of Sharpening Things".

Gabe Newell was there at E3 to announce that Portal 2 will be coming to the PlayStation 3, And it sounds like there'll be some form of Valve's gaming network Steam coming to the console too, though exactly what form this will take isn't yet know.

There was some footage shown, and it looked like it might have been gameplay. It was staggeringly beautiful, and took in outdoor environments as well as the original Portal's confined interior spaces.

Portal 2 is coming to PlayStation 3 next year.

Oh so Valve going mainstream huh. And I guess we have to wait for them to make the console version too. Awesome.

No sir, Consoles have always been in the way for the original PC. Always taking up time/money. It's even gotten VALVE! I never thought that would happen. Imagine playing Half-Life on a console. Just wrong... C'es la vie, don't bother me, I'm just an angry PC fan.

Valve have been creating their games for consoles for nearly 10 years. Half-Life, Half-Life 2, Portal, Left 4 Dead 1 and 2, Episode 1 and 2 and Team Fortress 2 have all been developer by Valve for a console.

As for consoles always taking up time and money? Consoles are where most developers money is coming from. Piracy is KILLING the PC market. If it wasn't for consoles, many of the great PC developers would be long dead.
