I would like to see some honest unpacking by apple for the pricing differences (stuff that is outside their control) because as I calculate it the extra cost of being British is a $100 price-hike. That is a whole quarter extra on the cost for a 32gb. I would feel cheated if I were to buy one of these

The European Union taxes f*** up all the Apple (and other electronics) product prices. Buying a plane ticket to the US and buying the Touch there will probably be cheaper

I also bought my ipod in the us, 499$ (289euros) instead of 379euros!

I might sell my ipod touch 1gen 16gb for 180 euros and buy the new one... But ill probably wait for 3rd gen!

There's the tax in the EU, BUT more imporantly - In the current economic climate, europe is a much richer continent, thus per rate of living, these prices are actually quite similar. Which is what companies such as apple go for anyway - price meets demand. The prices are even worse in the UK.

Here in Bulgaria it's even worse!

The first gen iTouch 32GB cost 1026 levs which are about 524 Euros!!! The price in the US was 499 so you get the point! Even with the tax I pay 20 to 30% extra to the retailers!!! So Ebay is my only option!
