I personally think it's OK because everyone contributing to installer wants their apps to be open source. Plus Apple is making money from this.
The only thing I wouldn't install is ROMs and the free App pack. Mainly because those you'd have to pay for otherwise, and it's hurting other people.

    Sure it's OK...
The only reason Apple says that it is bad is because they don't get any money from it...
    And really why should they?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I bet a lot of people on this thread only bought iPod touched because they knew they could jailbreak. I'm part of them.

Yes, it's ok. Apple has enough money, why should they be able to also make money off of other people's hard work at devloping the applications? If they didn't want them to be free, they wouldn't release them for people to download/install.

    Apple is stupid for caring.

Well, but they're selling iPods and we're buying them because we can jailbreak. So we are helping them.

because they spent much time, and money (yes, it does cost money to employ a staff to write your apps! I know, shocking, right.) on the dev. of these apps!

Would you spend a month at a computer writing code just to give it away, keeping in mind that you would be on a deadline, and have certain criteria to live up to, it can be stressful!

Why does nobody appreciate the hard work of others? SERIOUSLY?

_there is nothing wrong with app installs
