Ah; then we may get an untether before iOS 6 is released. :) Good to know, though until then my semi-tethered 5.1 iPod touch will suffice me.

Do you know why this will be bad?

I see no reason that this will be bad for anyone, least of all for users of "the new iPad" (iPad 3).

iOS 6 is supposedly coming soon. If he releases the jailbreak, the exploits won't be usable for iOS 6.

First, iOS 6 will be likely in beta until fall (just as last year with iOS 5.) Or at least, it'd be later than summer to iron out whatever bugs may exist in iOS 6.

Secondly, if you recall 5.0.1's jailbreak progress, 5 exploits were initially found for iOS 5 during the beta period; however, they were all patched before they could be used. This, in turn, caused the longer wait for an untethered iOS 5 jailbreak. So, it'd be wiser to use the exploits rather than take the risk that they are patched before they would be used. :) If those aren't good enough reasons, see this tweet from pod2g last week.

Hopefully a 5.1 jailbreak comes out for the rest that are missing it since I just stupidly upgraded to 5.1 on my iPad 2 after being misguided by the internet that it was able to be jailbroken. It's nice to see that there's hope though!

Also to comment on the above, isn't iOS 6 rumored to completely change the look of the iPhone? So hopefully the new features will provide some more loopholes and exploits.

Well you know I voted to wait for an untether until iOS 6 when there was a poll about it. When I saw I was terribly outnumbered I was really pissed people wanted to burn an untether. Now that I have had time to really think about it the changes of the exploit being in iOS 6 are probably slim. I mean I would think they could estimate whether or not it will still be there based on where the exploit is. I think it's a calculated risk that is really up to the devs to decide. They can always wait to see if it's patched in the first iOS 6 beta.......
