You can have 10000GB RAM on a 2G and Epic Citadel won't run. It's that your graphics ship isn't powerful enough, not the RAM.

Well, alright. A simple plist edit to trick iTunes isn't getting it to even install.
Oh well. Any other intensive applications to run that I'd see a difference in speed in?
On a 2nd gen, of course. My 4th gen hasn't lagged since I put my hands on it. It's either off, or snappy as hell, always.

Delete both plist files that were given to you...

And delete files in the "/var/VM/" folder (not the folder itself) to be safe.

my 3gs 4.1 crashes or freezes every time it tries to access the swap file by SB free memory action so this does not work for me at all..

Before you do this i want to make a few things clear:
    1. It is true that this will degrade the life of the NAND flash, but as said in the OP that your ipod even with VM will die from something else before the NAND dies.

2.Since ios4 brought multitasking the OS will tell backgrounding apps to save there state and close. If you use VM then apps will begin to use the NAND flash instead.

3.The main problem with apps using the NAND flash as RAM is that it is slower, so your not getting true RAM.

4.Devices that only have 128mb of RAM sound like they need this BUT because they will start to use the NAND flash instead of RAM quickly and because the NAND is not as fast as RAM things can become slow especially if like a springboard image gets stored in VM.

In the end it is up to you, but if you think about it it is best to let the OS do the RAM managing.

Actually is more of the GPU not supporting opengls es 2. If it supported opengls es 2 then epic citadel would run just with lots of lag.
