    Not Working :[

Using an iPad 1, running iOS 5.0.1.

I've tried both the OP .plist set and the others from a later poster with the other versions.

They both either crash my iPad when I free memory with SBSettings, or on the off chance that they do work and give me the 170-180+ ram they promise, it freezes when I try to run an app. Any idea what's causing this? I've changed the permissions to 755 for the .plists and 777 to the vm folder, and I'm positive everything was placed in the proper folder. Is there a chance I've removed a daemon that is required for this to run, like the powerd.plist or something? Anyone have any idea? Thanks :)

You could try replacing all of your LaunchDaemons (I hope you make backups). Other than that, it is pretty unstable in itself...

Thanks for this!! IPad 3g 64gb 5.0.1 working perfectly!!

Games that crashed before now run smoothly, yes it will decrease the life of your device, but that does not stop you from using your pc and burning cycles of your RAM or thinking about the motor on your hard drive... Just use this and if it fails well its a great excuse to upgrade. Stop thinking you're keeping your idevice for life, cause you're not.

    Thanks again OP!!

Doesn't seem to make a difference for me if my Launch Daemons are stock or not =/

It shouldn't most devices have the same.

That's such a shame, I mean, clearly there's something that differs between devices to make it work on one and not the other. Is there some kind of tool to monitor the system and see what might be causing bugs, etc?

I would guess more intensive use of ram, back in the 3.1.* days there weren't much ram insensive apps.

I suppose that's possible, when I did try it I was able to play my apps alright when they weren't so taxing on my iPad's ram, but at the same time, it never improved the speed of anything, all I noticed was a slow down, and a LOT of crashing. If it was anything 3d or just requiring a lot of ram, it lagged like no other, only to crash soon after.

There's gotta be more to it than amount of ram being used though, or else the lower-end apps would run faster than normal, or at least just as fast. Clearly it isn't just the operating system itself because I've got iOS 5.0.1 and @Peepsdayz got it working just fine with the same thing. Perhaps because he has the 64GB iPad, while I have only 16GB? Idthink the 3G would make a difference, but perhaps it just needs a lot of spare space...? Sounds off though, I'm not sure, really don't know much about things of this nature, though hopefully in the future I do, would love to know how to work stuff like this out :)

I got my answer here, so I post my result here. My iPad 1 is blocked in iOS 5.1.1 (9B206), so I've jailbroken and tried to increase the available RAM for performance because I had problems with freeze Samba (SMB) on FileExplorer app.

This tweak to add swap works for me, but I had to re-activate the multitasking in K48AP.plist

I tried to compress the file in high use, the result is quite huge. My performance problem disappeared.
