    Apparently it's somehow encoded as non-plain text, a lot of people seem to have the issue of not being able to read the plist files in Windows.

    Well I must admit I opened it in Wordpad, but then I copied the contents to a notepad file and continued to edit from there.

    nope, I'm using xp and I have the same problem...if N45AP.plist is the file you are trying to edit, just copy and paste this into a notepad and save it and change the extension to plist. This worked for me, I got the code from a kind fellow on this forum.

    Code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

    this shouldn't change anything if you haven't modified that file before. This code is the original, but also contains the additional 2 lines that enables calendar appointment adding. I have 3rd party apps too and this is the plist file I am using for now
