I'm planning to get either an iPod Touch 16GB (with the new January Apps), or an HTC Touch Enhanced (201mhz processor, 64mb ram, 128mb rom) from hong kong in a couple of days

before replying, please consider the following:
    - MSN is VERY important to me.
    - web browsing on the ipod Touch is much better, but with the beta release of Opera 9.5, i hope that it will at least be comaparable
    - im hoping to bring the device road trips to sort of entertain me with computer-like features (web browsing, multimedia, etc)
    - I dont need a phone, but if i do get one, ill use it
    - I use Windows XP Professional SP2
    - I already have an HP iPaq hx2495
    - I can get most cracked windows mobile app's free via warez sites

    Pro's and Cons

iPod Touch (easier to use, less features):

    + cheaper
+ awesome web browsing (via safari)
    + SDK soming out soon
    + nicer design
+ runs stipped down version of Mac OS X (awesome, easy to use)
    + a simply awesome keyboard
    + finger interaction is great
+ elegant glass and metal does not show age
    + multitouch

    - Less features*
    - no iChat or other IM clients*
    - fingerprints
    - taller
    - no flash or java in browser*
    - cannot use stylus (doesnt really matter)
    - i use windows xp
    - no camera

HTC Touch (harder to use, more features):

    + smaller
+ SDK already out, able to purchase a whole lot of apps
    + is a phone
+ runs Windows Live Messenger and other Windows Live Apps
+ has a lot more features**
+ good keyboard with third party app (resco keyboard pro)**
    + no fingerprints
    + i use windows
    + has a camera

    - runs windows mobile (prone to crashes and very hard to use in my experience)
    - bad default keyboard
    - needs the use of a stylus to do most things
    - very bad pocket IE
    - thick and bulky (compated to the ipod touch)
    - features are harder to use
    - painted plastic shows age
    - no multitouch (doesnt really matter)
    - no flash or java in browser
    - lots of buttons (compared to ipod touch, but it might be easier to use)

    * = can be fixed by the upcoming Apple iPod Touch SDK
** = cost money or by a third party (i can obtain cracked shareware apps for free via warez sites)

please help me make a desicion as soon as possible.

and please answer without being bias as an ipod touch owner (not that i think any of you will

my dad has a HTC touch and i dont like it, i dont like the look or feel. But this is coming from an ipod lover, i will buy anything with the apple logo on tbh. it has windows mobile which i dont like because it is compressed version of the OS which sucks. OSX ftw.

If you are looking for business = HTC

If you are looking for pleasure (with business interwined ^^) = iPod touch

I'm sure there will be Apps coming for the touch and iphone making it into a PDA in the coming months.

This is an iPod touch forum.

I think the overwhelming answer will be the former.

ipod touch 16gb isnt that much cheaper than a htc touch. i think u should definately go for the htc touch, because its been out longer which means all the bugs should be fixed, its got sdk, lots of apps accessable.

sure u can get all of this on ipod touch through jailbreak but JB is unreliable, i did it and i decided to go back to un-JB cuz it made me ipod go REALLY slow.

and the HTC is a phone and has expandable memory, thus i believe the HTC touch is the better choice

the HTC Touch looks ike a souped up Tamagotchi...
If i were you id go for the iPod touch because its already so great, and the SDK is coming out tommorow, and after that, we all know which will be superior

Oh and if you JailBreak there are IM Clients(Apollo, Mobile Chat) and there are the web app IM clients(meebo, BeeJive, eBuddy) and the touch does have quite alot of compatibility with Windows,im a windows user myself and have never had any difficulties because i dont have a mac.
if you dont want fingerprints, get invisible shield, thats what i did, its finger print proof, and relatively cheap.
And more buttons just mean its easier to mess it up whilst in your pocket

If Sprint wasn't so full of FAIL and the HTC wasn't so useless I would've gone with it but that vid has proven one thing to me. Sometimes touching something small isn't a good thing. (hay, no jokes off that... I'm straight damn it). xD

Well this is a dumb question.

The HTC Touch is a Mobile Phone. And its stupid, running windows Mobile 6.

    iPod Touch = Win.

Also, whoever is the monkey that voted for HTC Touch, you is a D-BAG!!!
