    Hello,

I am planning to buy an iPhone 2g from my friend for $100. But the thing that is holding me back is that the bottom of the touch screen is unresponsive...so i wanted to know if i will be able to replace the digitizer ( correct me if thats what has to be replaced or not) and for how much...Thanks

It's certainly possible. I have not meddled with the hardware of my iPhone, so I will not comment on the "pain-in-the-ass" factor. There are many resources on the internet that can sell you the right parts and offer specific instructions.

I have done a few of the 2G's and the first one is always the hardest.

More than likely you will damage the case opening it up but there are plenty of guides out there to show you how it should be done.

Another thing; do not try and replace just the digitizer; it is not really possible. You will need to replace the entire screen; glass, LCD, and digitizer (it is basically a single piece).
