What version did you use to restore? 1.1.1? 1.1.2?

Download another file from the Internet version 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 and try that one, if that doesn't work then I'm not sure, but iTunes is not the Problem My Friend.

    Don't mess with iTunes.

acutally it depends. i had a similar problem to this where it showed my ipod only have 300 mb of space. from the apple discussion board i got input that if you create another itunes account and try to restore it usually works. so i created another account and restored my ipod. strangely it worked. give that a shot. if not, try asking a question on the apples discussion page for ipod touch.,

have u tryied the recovery mode pressing the sleep buttom, home buttom then release sleep and keep holding the home buttom until itunes recognize it,
tips: apple ipod must be listed under universal serial bus controllers
try on reinstalling itunes 7.5 and make sure the applemobile device support and aoftware are currentrly installed, also try this.
look for the ipod device in the device maganer on your computer, (pressing windows buttom and then pause) hit device manager then, get the apple ipod and get to the properties hit manually and type this os the address C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
then ipod should install the driver correctly, the problem might be with the itunes instead the ipod so tell me if this info is helpfull for u .

im pretty sure the problem is with itunes.
it is feautured under universal devices as apple recover(iboot)USB driver.
so my computer recognizes it but ituhnes does not.
is there a safe way to downgrade to 7.4 or 7.5 safely?

i recommed u 7.5 also try to do this, once u have the 7.5 package extract it with winrar and then install forst the applemobiledeice then the support then quicktime, then itunes, and its totally safe, if the itunes still doesn;t recognize it then try on updating the driver again with the method i just gave u and good luck.
