The new update released by apple 2.2.1 WILL NOT (I REPEAT) WILL NOT affect ipod touch 2g jailbreak.

    READ: http://qik.com/video/932927
    http://blog.iphone-dev.org/

    Why?
Because the jailbreak (redsn0w, 0wnb00t) is done so by a HARDWARE exploit.

    SO CAN APPLE FIX THIS?
    NO!

    Why?
Because its a hardware exploit. They can ONLY AND ONLY IF they make a NEW ipod touch 3g. redsn0w uses a hardware exploit so apple can't upgrade its firmware and magically change its hardware in the process.

    What does it affect then?
It affects only IPHONE 3G (not IPHONE 2G) on the yellowsn0w soft unlock.

PEOPLE ITS NOT THAT HARD TO UNDERSTAND IT
tethered means the ipod touch IS JAILBROKEN BUT everytime it reboots the redsn0w exploit NEEDS to be applied each time (meaning you need a laptop to do this) so that's why iphone blog HAVE NOT yet released it NOR DID CHRONIC-DEV.

    ETA:
WHEN THEY ARE DONE JAILBREAKING IT (UNTETHERED- meaning you can take it anywhere u want and never have to apply the redsn0w exploit again even IF you REBOOT)

What firmware DO I need to be on to jailbreak my ipt2g
    any version for redsn0w
and currently for chronic dev: 2.1 but they have stated that this can be easily solved.

ALSO, STOP FLAMING PEOPLE THAT ARE CREATING NEW DEV-BLOGS.
They are only trying to help. Also, age doesn't matter look at arix - 14 years old and on chronic and pwning that ipod touch. Stop flaming. its just annoying and stupid. grow up and instead be optimistic and support. three heads are better than two and four heads are better than three.

Disclaimer: this is all my own knowledge and what I have read...

Basically, If you have a 2G, go ahead and update to 2.2.1. You can always downgrade through DFU anyway.

u wont even have to downgrade unless chronic releases it but if they do im pretty sure they will make a way so u wont have to downgrade it then go thru all that tedious stuff.

Give me a reason to upgrade ipt2g.
From what ive read the bug fixes are that minor its not worth the mouse clicks.
