    HELP!

While attempting to jailbreak my ipod touch 2g 4.1, I accidentally started the iREB process before doing anything else (don't act like you've never accidentally clicked a button before lol). Anyways, it did the whole thing, and when my device rebooted, it was in a permanent Recovery Mode.

Before you tell me to research, I haven't asked for help for 3 days trying to find a solution. Of course iREB's recovery fix doesn't work (that's what broke the ipod) and restoring in iTunes gives me various error messages:

    "Firmware not compatible"
"There was a problem with restoring your ipod 1611"

I can get the device in DFU mode, but it still won't restore. Does anyone have ANY clue on what to do, a little help would be greatly appreciated. I'm about to get the new iTouch, but I still want to have a functioning 2g. Thanks in advance!

    Chris

My best guess would be DFU mode. But you said it wouldn't restore. What error does it give when you try to restore in DFU mode (keep in mind DFU is when the screen is completely black).

I wouldn't do that with the iReb boot logo showing up.

    Thanks for the response:

In DFU mode, it says "there was an unknown problem restoring your iPod"
It says the same error message in Recovery mode, only it adds (1611)

Try a different computer. For some reason, that seems to get it done.

But if there is no sign that you were trying to Pwn your iPod, take it to apple.

    Sorry for not being clear

Also, the iReb logo isn't coming up...sorry if I wasn't clear about that...it's just the regular Apple boot logo, then the USB cable pointing to iTunes.....unless I put it in DFU mode, which is just a black screen...

Then you're clear to bring it into the apple store.

I'm going to try that....as soon as I can get iTunes installed on my XP 64-bit laptop....I'm having issues with that too hahaha!!
Do you have any estimation of how much it might cost to fix? Its not like under warranty or anything...

    Thanks for the responses everyone
