OK heres the deal. i am not sure how this happened but currently somehow all the music on my ipod has been erased. when i plug it in and itunes recognizes it. it now says that there is only 500mb of music and like 7.5gb of "outher" when before it stated 8gm of music. so im thinking the files are still on my ipod ? please help.

Yes, they are on your ipod in the iTunes_Control folder but it is probably called iTunes_Control Temp or 2. SSH in and you can try to move it or copy it back to computer

You need to install OpenSSH and then use Winscp to SSH into the ipod to copy the files. Maybe you can use Senuti and see if it can fine them. the iTunes_Control folder is inside the media folder.

openssh with cydia, then winscp, type in your ipods ip address which you can find on they network you are connected to. Then the username is root and the password is alpine, it is in the library folder i think.

you have the 2G ipod touch. hehe.

    you can't jailbreak it.

you don't have any other option but to restore.

restore and put all the music that are lost.

    just do this.

    Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Data and Content

sure its like restoring, but its much much quicker.
