I have an Ipod Touch second generation, firmware 2.2.1 (5H11a).

I also have downloaded iPod2,1_2.2.1_5H11a_Restore to my desktop.

    I'm using QuickFreedom 1.2.0.

It errors when I try to create a firmware.

I'm using vista, I installed LibUSB correctly.

    What am I doing wrong?

You are using Quickfreedom, thats what you are doing wrong. Find a link to redsn0w 0.3 and use that.

I can actually upload you a firmware, but first uninstall LibUSB and go into
    C:/Program Files/QuickFreedom/Files

Right Click On LibUSB-Win32 and select Properties.
Select The Compatability tab and select run in compatability with XP Sp3
    Click OK
    Open the file.
    Install LibUSB

Open QuickFreedom and retry. If it doesnt work, PM me and Ill give you a download link to a QuickFreedom Custom Firmware file (I have your same iPod)

Custom firmware's are illegal. You are not allowed to re-distribute them. If the OP uses redsn0w 0.3 he won't even need a Custom firmware

i would try to find a copy of QuickPWN 2.2.5 (for Windows)

    check out this

it's pretty easy to use...and if for some reason it doesn't work, you can always restore your ipod using iTunes (( <shift<>restore><find firmware location><okay> ))

just be sure to follow all of the on-screen instructions in QuickPWN if you decide to use it
