    Hey,
I just bought a used iPhone which had a FW of 2.2. I tired doing a "reset all settings and contents" and after it finished it is just stuck on the apple logo with it restarting every couple of minutes. I followed the instructions and put the phone into DFU mode but iTunes wants to update the FW to 2.2.1 which I know is not good if you want to unlock. So is there anyway to restore it with FW 2.2??

Thanks for any help, im new in the iphone scene....

You'll have to find the 2.2 Firmware and restore to that.

Once you have the firmware put the phone in DFU mode and hold down the alt/option key (on a mac) and click restore (forgot the keystroke on a PC). This will let you select what firmware you want to restore to.

Once that is done you will do something similar after creating a custom firmware assuming you are going to jailbreak and / or unlock the phone.

you can download the correct firmware here: http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/

get firmware 2.2 and then follow instructions above ^.

to jailbreak, use pwnagetool or quickpwn to jailbreak the software then download yellowsn0w from cydia.
