Ok so I was so close to jailbreaking my ipod touch 2nd gen I got up to the last step were your ipod restarts and it tells you to plug into Itunes. Well I do that and it itunes detects it but then it says its in recovery mode and it needs to be restored so I click ok and download the update as I was installing the update my ipod disconnect and windows said unknown hardware and my ipod touch screen was all black. Now I cant even get my ipod touch screen to turn on. I can only put it in DFU mode Itunes detects and when I click restore it says up to date already check itunes version. Please help! Should I call Apple and get a replacement?! I am flipping out

If iTunes is asking you to restore, it will restore you to its original firmware. Meaning no more jailbreak, it'll be gone.

    Download the latest firmware here:
    http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/
    (Ipod touch 2.2.1)

Press shift and restore, and go to the location you saved the file at.

It will restore you back to factory defaults.

i dont think so. Cause if i did the boot thing. it still comes up as the same thing(enter all the codes, screen turns white, and then enter more codes and then screen flashes and apple boot logo comes and then the connect ipod to itunes comes up. I do that and while its in the middle of restoring it either shuts down or disconnects.
