    Hi all,

I bought my daughter an ipod touch for Christmas and she took it round her friends and got it jailbroke, and now her ipod wont turn on at all.

Is there anything i can do? i am realy frustrated. I have tried everything to get it into DFU mode since last night but i can't even hear the sound that you are supposed to listen for, and the pc doesn't even recognize the ipod at all and the screen is just blank?

Any help you can give me will be great.

It looks as though you have a 3G iPod touch and the jailbreak for these devices is 'tethered'.

Tethered means that whenever you power off the iPod touch you need to connect it to the computer again via teh USB cable and run the blaskra1n jailbreak program to boot it up (i.e. get it to work). You will need to do this every time the iPod touch is turned off and on again.

    Get blackra1n here.

Once you've fixed it I'd explain this process to your daughter and if she wants to remove the jailbreak then connect to iTunes and hit the restore button... but note that if you restore to the new 3.1.3 firmware that was released last week you cannot jailbreak again so you may want to restore to 3.1.2.

The moral of this story is don't hack things if you don't know what you're doing

Lets wait for a response. I think she's got it confused as there's no way a jailbreak would damage the device unless some physical damage was done.

Hi I had the EXACT same problem only to find I had to wait a few days. Here is what you do. Don't panic just leave it alone for like 2 days. hold the power button and home buttton at the same time for 10 seconds and hope it goes to recovery mode you will see a itunes logo and a cord connect it to iTunes and restore
