    hi,
so i just upgraded to the 3.0 firmware on my 1g on my ipod touch.
now my computer won't recognize the ipod. it just says usb device not recognized.
when i look at the details in the device manager the instance id isnt even right (doesnt match anything in the .inf file)
    heres what ive tried.

    1. reinstalled itunes
    2. tried different ports
    3. tried to update the driver [usbaapl.inf] doesnt match the hardware
    4. reboot ipod
    5. reboot computer
    6. recovery mode [connect to itunes screen]
    7. dfu mode [black screen]
    8. unplugging all usb devices (exept the ipod)
    9. altering .inf file, [error code 10]
    10. connectivity test
    11. and i am pretty sure my usb is 2.0 (tried like 4 different computers)

please help me. im getting desperate now...

    thanks in advance

just did this. Uninstall your drivers for it under device manager then give your computer a restart.

when everything is back, plug it in and let it reinstall them. It should install them under "Portable Devices" under the decive manager. hit the update drivers and see if there isn't anything underneath the little box saying "Check Sub-folders" (like something that looks like when you diagnose internet connection problems, and it gives you a list of things that are irrelevent to what you want to do).

anyways, if on of those is there, then go to the following: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers\usbaapl.sys

That should make you confirm it and say "Apple Mobile Device". if not, sorry man, can't quite recreate it on my computer for better info.

restart and voila, it should come up in itunes when your computer comes back.

DO NOT try to put it in Recovery mode yet. i did it, and now im stuck in it. still havent gotten the fix for DFU and Recovery issue, but it will sync after that.

    good luck,
    Brian.
