I Jail broke my iPod touch with Ziphone, but pressed the " do it all button" instead of the jailbreak for iPod touch. It kept showing the message "BSD root: md0, major2, minor 0"
on the iPod even after disconnection. Pressing the home button when it started up did nothing significant. Am I beyond reprieve?

Hold down home and power off
press the home button for 5 seconds and plug the usb cable back in ( while still holding the home button ) and restore your ipod

Well you still shouldve looked around to see the hundreds of "ZOMG! IM GETTING BSD Root!' Threads.

and also, force restore DOES work, don't tell me that it dosn't, because

A: Ive used it to get out BSD root on my own iPod at least 10 times, and friends ipods aswell.

B: iPod touch does not even have the required software/hardware to brick. Only iPhone does because of baseband.

C: If you searched, you would have found many other people complaining, and then there problems being solved.
