Something is wrong. Ok I was listening to music and then eventually synced my iPod to my computer next thing I know I go on my iPod all the music is gone and videos too but everything else is there. Well the thing is I still have the same amount of data that I had but now the music and videos data are under the other section so I know they didn't delete off and no way possible they could have all deleted in like 3 seconds so now they are under other.! How do I get my iPod back normal?

    **Edit**
    Its a jailbroken iPod!

This happens at least once to everybody.

You need to put your iPod into DFU Mode.
Plug it into your computer, and do this (while its still turned on)

Hold the home & power buttons until the screen goes black.
Once the screen goes black, release the power button but continue holding the home button.
Keep holding the home button until you hear a beep on your computer.

When you hear the beep, give your computer a couple seconds to install the drivers.
Oh, and your iPod should appear black and non-responsive, this is normal.

Once the drivers are installed, open iTunes (if you havnt already)
It should give you a dialog box that it has detected an iPod in recovery mode.
    Press OK.

Now click the Restore button, and allow your iPod to Restore.
When its finished restoring, you can restore from a backup, and resync all of your music.

This should be the last time it should happen.

    No...

If its jailbroken, then SSH to /var/mobile/Media/ and delete the iTunes_Control ( theres a iTunes_Control2 then delete it too) and then just sync again.

    Oh yeah.

Wait, isnt /var/mobile/Media in the sandbox?
So you could access it via DiskAid on a non-jailbroken touch.

I think you just have to unplug/replug it and let iTunes sync and then everything will be cool.

Do not restore. Try these steps in this order.

    First, try respringing.
    Second, try rebooting.
Third, try resetting all settings, by going to Settings > General > Reset.
Fourth, try resyncing with iTunes without adding or removing anything.
Fifth, try resyncing with iTunes and add or remove something.
Sixth, remove /var/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control via SSH, DiskAid, or PhoneView and add your music back in via iTunes.

    WAIT!

If you reset all settings on a jailbroken device, when its done, it hangs at the boot logo becauses it erases some core components, right?

    EDIT:
Or does that only happen when you "Erase All Data & Settings"?

    It's merely removing /var/mobile/Library/Preferences. There's nothing core it's deleting.
