    I was playing with it earlyer and installed Categories app from cydia ( iPod Touch 2G 8GB Jailbroken teathered version [cywood helper] 2.2.1 ) and I installed that app then made a category and it then turned off so It thought oh hey I'll just turn it back on with the pc. Trouble is I had a pc without itunes and the cywood installer but I was downloading them, so i plugged it in anyway and it said as it normally did Windows does not recognize this device.. I stuck it into DFU moed and it installed something but then the pc wouldnt recognise it anymore.. after iTunes & cywood was ready I still can't get the ipod to be recognized with windows.. I've tried all the dfu methods and everything :| please help :{

    There's a few things you can do...Since you're on tethered, you could get a boot program, or download the QuickPWN beta, since you in DFU, and re-jailbreak through quickPWN, you won't lose anything, but cydia is replaced, so you in a way, have to install everything back on...Sooo yeah....Or you can just DFU restore...

    Am i not mistaken that libusb is required for the iPod to be able to communicate with the pc? may be wrong

    No. DFU mode is controlled by AppleMobileDeviceService. I checked. It's built into iTunes. LibUSB is irrelevant.
