ok ive been waiting to jailbreak my ipod touch 2g 16gb. and today i finally found out you can. so i tried it out and one part didnt work and long story short,...i think i bricked it. All the buttons i press on it would do anything and i tried the hold the power and home button thing and it didnt do anything. But when i plug it in my comp theres a noise and itunes pops up. so i obviously reads it. but when it says you have to restore,i click it. But then it says "the software for this ipod is currently not availibe, make sure you have the latest version and try again"

So i downloaded itunes 8.1 and still the same thing happened.
so i manually downloaded the firmware (i think) for it and and when i click on that it just brings back up itunes again.

Help is there anyway to fix this! if please help!!!

Manually download the firmware, put your ipod into DFU mode (see my sig), open iTunes, it should read it as an ipod in Recovery mode and needs to be restored, press shift and click the restore button, a menu will pop up, browse to where you downloaded the firmware and doubleclick it, your ipod should now be restoring

Probably the warning about the software was not so much the itunes software but the firmware itunes detected. I would goto youtube and check out willdta. He has an excellent vid on the new untethered jailbreak that I did just a couple hours ago and works perfect.

Can you give more details? What method are you using to jailbreak? What steps were you on to get to where you are at? Need more information.
