"You don't need to be at your computer to follow your friends. Ping works on the iTunes app on iPhone and iPod touch."

Are you kidding me?? No iPad support???? This sucks. Is it something to do with iOS 4?? I just don't get it.

Do iPod Touch/iPhone have to upgrade to get Ping, or do they already have it?

I'm pretty sure that it has something to do with 4.0

In 4.1 iPhone's and iPod's get it then in November iPad's get it with 4.2.

Unless Apple have provided API's for ping (very unlikely)

What's the point of it anyway ? It's just an other over rated Social Networking programme, personally I couldn't care that it's not on my Ipad IMO I'd rather widgets !

you do not need 4.1 for ping on the iphone/ipod touch, just go to the itunes app and it is there. i am on 4.0.2 and i havent had any issues yet. but i think it does require ios4 api's which would explain lack of ipad support

iPad will probably get it when 4.2 comes out and brings all the 4.0 and 4.1 features to iPad.

Go to the 4.1 software page: http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/software-update/

It says Ping for iTunes (mobile), so iPod touch and iPhone will get Ping in 4.1. Therefore, iPad will get it in 4.2 (which is the first 4.x update for iPad)

Yeah, the iTunes app is all web based, so you don't need a new firmware to get new features. I have Ping on my iPod now, but it hasn't shown up on my iPad yet.

I just noticed that. Ping is on my iPod Touch right now. I am on 4.0.2. When you go to iTunes on your iPod, it is right there(right after Videos). I didn't know this. I guess I missed that part in the event.

It seems it will be available when 4.2 comes out for the iPad, hopefully.
