    Ping.--- A Review
So, Ping was shown in iTunes 10 on Wednesday. "Wow, really THAT long ago?" Yeah! I'm shocked too!

Now you may have noticed some small downsides in Ping at the moment.

    • You can't update your own status.
    • Profile Pictures take about a day to process
    • Facebook Integration rejected
    • Not very unique.

So, I would like to show you a small comparison of Ping compared to Facebook & Twitter. So you could say that I am doing a little thread which basically means

    Facebook vs Ping vs Twitter

    'Like' and 'Follow'

    Facebook
It musn't have taken long for apple to figure out what to do for Liking and following, because that is essentially the basis of Twitter & Facebook. You can literally like ANYTHING you want on Facebook, from Photos & Videos to Game Scores & Social Interviews. So, Apple must have thought.. Hey! Facebook did really well with 'Like', so maybe we should add 'Like' aswell, so people understand what to do!

    No.

    Twitter
Wow, Apple. 'Follow' was something unique about twitter. Twitter could have used 'Keep Track' or 'Watch', but they chose 'Follow'. Now, you would think this would leave Apple with some more choices, like the ones I have mentioned above. But no, they want to copy twitter like they did with Facebook. Original?

    No.

    Pros and Cons

    Pros.
    • Don't have Facebook or Twitter? Solution.
    Cons.
    • No Status Update
    • No Facebook Integration
    • Probably no Twitter integration
    • Like and Follow. Copycat.
    • You can't like things in your Library, you have to go to the iTunes store page.
    • I don't care what Lady Gaga is doing.
    • Completely Grayscale. Wow, Depressing.

I don't see how Ping is a "solution" to not having Facebook or Twitter, so I guess there really aren't any pros at all.

Couldn't agree more. iTunes 10 was the most disappointing of the Keynote by far.

You know what? I don't need Twitter, I have Facebook and I use it regularly and for what do I need Ping? I mean, it's just pointless. Anyways im gonna make a account, just to be sure to not miss features.

    This thread is pointless.

Ping is NOT a competitor to Facebook or Twitter. Apple never portrayed it as such. It's entirely focused around music and the iTunes store.
