I was wondering if there were any lesser known alternatives to photoshop. I got the trial and loved it but I don't have $1,000 to fork over for Photoshop. It's interface is great and the filters, brushed and gradients are epic. I have GIMP atm and I don't like it having all of the sup-windows and everything messy. I also tried Gimpshop, deleted it because it was atrocious. Any ideas?

    Ps: I also have Paint.net.

Edit: THAT ARE NOT PIRATED WHAT SO EVER!!!!!!!

just fyi: you can purchase Photoshop with a student discount (k-12) for a significantly cheaper price. I bought CS3 Web Premium (Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, Illustrator, etc) a few years ago for $500.

Adobe handled it really well; I faxed my student ID and they approved it in less than 24 hours.

On Mac you can try Pixelmator for $45. apparently better ui, but still lacking in some fairly important features.

I love PCs but making apps and graphics are the two let downs...

And if you do some research yourself... go to the Krita website, and you can see on there it says it supports some GIMP brushes....

Paint.NET is free and offers a few advanced tools.
