What are the ups and downs of the ios 4.0

Honestly, I run a 2g ipt on iOS 4 with all features enabled and I have yet to have any problems with ram. I run winterboard, sbsettings and a host of other addons.

The third generation iPod touch 8gb is actually second generation. I don't know what UberNub is on about, but even without multitasking, iOS 4 really slows your device down. I'd stay on iOS 3 or wait until the new iPod touch arrives on September 1st. Unless you don't mind a sluggish device.

Really. I don't see why everyone says that iOS4 slows down your 2g ipt. Mine runs perfectly fine. :/

in my opinion, 3.1.3 is better ONLY because iOS 4 is a real battery drainer
while in sleep mode, i lost 35% overnight on iOS 4, as opposed to the 3% on 3.1.3

running the a 2g/3g 8gb ipt (MC model)

well , the 3G ipod touch 8GB works fine with iOS 4 if you have deleted the app drop shadows using iFile or something like that( when jailbroken and all features enabled) , if not, it would be so so... if you have trouble with the battery just turn off push notifications and wi-fi when you do not use it - I have one and I have done all of this
    Good luck!

Yea. 4.0 isn't bad, even on the 3G which has serious speed problems, with all the tweaks and things I can have Winterboard, SBSettings, Battery Percentage, Multitasking, Wallpapers, and a whole lot more. It isn't too bad, but you need to watch your battery a lot.

Perhaps it is because you are used to slightly slower speeds because you always jailbreak and install Mobile Substrate add-ons, Winterboard themes, etc.? Because I've seen a noticeable speed and responsiveness decrease on my iPt3G 32GB (with updated processor/GPU, RAM).

noup, the 3rd generation 8GB has the same specs of the previous generation, that's why people consider it a 2G (and it lacks voice control)
