    yup, I haven't heard anything about it in these forums but 1.1.3 comes with the ability to open .PDFs! Actually, idk if earlier fw's could but I just figured it out.
    (and I DID search before I posted!)

    Yea. 1.1.3 DOES come with the ability to open PDF's.

    After the 20 bux for new Apps.

    SO that means......

    Yep. a jailbroken 1.1.2 has this ability due to the ported Mail.app

    Mail.app does work - if you attach a pdf (or even a doc file), you can read it through mail.app.

    However, the way I found useful was using an http server app and allowing Safari to view the folders in the iPod's file structure. That way, I can just use WinSCP to drag and drop PDF files into the iPod, and open them using Safari.

    maybe you can suggest it to apple.com to include it on the next update, so that we don't need to use safari just to read pdf files.

    using pdf files at airport

    Yes the ipod touch 1.13 reads the pdf files. I booked my airline seat and instead of printing it, sent it as mail attachment to my ipod touch. Then opened it in the mail and saved the attachment on my ipod. At the airport, I opened the file and made it larger to see the code bar for optical recognition. It worked for the hand held code bar readers but failed with the fixed one when getting in plane.
    This is a good solution for keeping documents on ipod.

    Just a response to the 1.1.3 Mail App (with a Touch- not sure about the iPhone)- If you TURN OFF the Touch and turn it back on, you won't be able to view your email pdf/doc attachment when wifi is OFF.

    Can anyone else confirm this? It would suck if you relied upon viewing an attached document, and you weren't able to.
