Windows xp freezes when iPod is hooked up and I am not using the PC.
Firstly if your not using it i don't see why freezing is a problem. Secondly it probably means when you plug it in and it launches itunes. Itunes hogs your computers cpu power aka your computer may be older. (close itunes in short)
Or, hit ctrl+alt+delete and hit processes (I think, I'm on a Mac sorry) and you should see iTunesHelper or something similar. Kill that process. iTunesHelper will load iTunes when a device is plugged in. Disabling that will only allow iTunes to open when you click the icon. Hope that helps.
When I go back to pc to use it it is frozen. I have iTunes closed most of the time. I use the pc to charge ipt4 mostly. I have ordered a wall charger and a new pc. But I was wounding If any of you were experiencing the same problem.
Ctrl alt delete does not work. It does not respond to any input. I have to hold the power button to turn it off.
what computer is it?
its a Windows Explorer glitched in XP [and sometimes Vista] where anything related to WE craps out if certain USB devices are connected.
Upgrade your computer before you upgrade your apple products bro
^ I disagree, I'm running Windows XP on a different computer and I use it for all of my iPhone projects. It works quite well, as long as the software is up to date. No need to upgrade the computer IMO.
I had a little bug with iTunes a while back that was causing freezes and crashes on my Vista machine. I just reinstalled iTunes and it fixed it. It would only do these things when my iPod was recognized by iTunes. Weird, but it happened.
Or, format your PC.
