i have the ipod touch with the 3.1.3 version. i have had it for about 2 months now and it has been working fine ever since. just today i tried to connect it to my computer, but it seems the computer doesn't recognize it. before this happened, when i connected the ipod the sound would come up (when u connect a usb) and then i would see the usb icon in the taskbar, and itunes would also automatically start. now when i connect it i can hear the usb connection sound but nothing else happens. no usb icon shows up, and the ipod doesnt show up in itunes, and the ipod itself turns to charging mode(as in the battery picture shows up yet it is full). any ideas why this has happened? and i have tried my other usb and it works fine, it seems its only the ipod. please help!

Have you tried hard restoring it? That may be your only option, that is the only thing i found useful when this happened to me.

    Try a different USB port/PC.
