Yes, 10 bucks, just like every other major one, iPhone users have an immensely large contract they have to pay for, so they get it free.

    I think you'll have to.

I have an iPhone. It'll probably be free (for me).
But I pay $82 a month for it.

That's a lot of firmware updates.
Really, $10 isn't that bad. Especially for the new features Apple throws in.

Who cares? We all know you're going to be one of those kids who pirates it.

They always charge for their firmware updates for iPod touch users. That's not going to change.

I probably wouldnt mind paying as long as the features are worth it. Or just wait until 4.1 to get it for only $4.95

    Now there's a sensible post.

This happens every year; kids complain about paying a measly sum for solid new features and stability. Apple is legally required to charge for iPod software updates.

How are they legally required to do so? What says they can't give it out for free, they do with the minor ones. I'm just curious, not disputing as I know little about law and the such.
