I have a friend with an ipot and his hold button hasnt ever worked but recently he attempted to Jailbreak it using ZiPhone 3.0 and during the process accidentally unplugged it. ziPhone will not detect the ipot in any way shape or form and he cant set it to DFU or recovery cause the hold button is broken, do you think apple will repair it? (When he turns it on all he sees is the text and it gives him a message about bsd subsystem like 9 million times)

Have you tried iLiberty+ or ZiPhone to kick it into DFU mode?

Yes I tried using Ziphone but it's as if the iPod is responding to anything the computer says so ziphone just searches for "iPhone" in the more detailed section

Try iLiberty+ as well, also try a hard reset of the iPod before attempting to kick it into DFU mode with iLiberty+.

If it wont connect, then you cant enter DFU mode from your computer...

Worth a try though, if the sleep button doesn't work at all, then he doesn't have too many options.

I would try to maybe fry chip in the iPod, then they would replace it. I dont think the guys at Apple Store would be so happy about seeing Bsd root 0 and that other stuff.

lol so they replaced it but he said that they were rather confused and were like "what on earth is that?" so they just swapped him on the spot for a brand new one which has the apps (his didn't)
