    Which is better?
There was already a thread on this, but it was from a while ago. Now both have had updates.

I heavily prefer GIMP. It's more advanced and is a lot more open. I use it all the time.

GIMP is to Windows as Paint.net is to Mac OS X. Haha. Just about the features/interface comment. Try both of them. If you are looking to do a lot of image work then GIMP is yours. If it's just simple things on occasion then both are good but Paint.net might be better for extremely inexperienced users.

(And yes, Germany, I am extremely inexperienced, no, really, I am.)

    I too prefer paint.net.

Why? Because almost all of the features that GIMP has, you can add to Paint.NET, while keeping a better interface.

paint.net doesnt have some features that gimp has. gimp is a more professional use, while paint.net is more for like personal editing.
