I've been seeing a lot of overlay.png in a lot of theme files.

It looks to me like people just make a blank wallpaper, with no specific "housing" for icons, like a Delnoch theme I was looking at.

So instead of making the icon housing part of the Wallpaper.png, they just make an overlay to put over the wallpaper? Maybe for hotswapping wallpapers? I dont know.

    Anybody?

I think it's just easier to use.. in a way. Like, it's a lot easier to change icons with an overlay. And you don't really have to worry about using 4/5/6/7/8 icon dock because they'll all end up on the overlay

I personally love overlays, I've been using one for awhile.

Wait, the icons will actually go into the slots on the overlay? That makes absolutely no sense. Overlays just dont "position" icons. They'll need much more coding than .png to do that...

Well, you have to position the icons too lol.

    Thats what I thought.

Sounds like a good idea though, its like you can "hotswap" wallpapers without going through all the dirty work.

Whoever thought of that must be getting all the ladies.

Haha, yea, it makes everything a lot easier. I'm even at the point where I'm just using a transparent icon and using the icon labels alone
