I suggest let it sit in a glass of cold water.

No but really, just don't let it heat up put it on something cold.

you should'nt worry, its natural if you have used wifi or have SSH on for a while from what i learned the use of app overtime the battery may heat up. but for charging i ont think you should worry.

ok i have the same problem. i charge my ipod with a charger i used for the first ipod nanos that came out. and when charging my ipod i tend not to hold it, but the other day i accidently lay on it and jumped up because it was so hot. im wondering if its dangerous to charge it with that or just leave it plugged into the pc?

Good advice. So OP, listen to skyline_-. It is all lies.

I wouldn't worry about it getting a little warm, if not hot during charging, it's normal for a battery to get warm while charging it.

This is all good advice. As with cell phones and laptops having lithium ion batteries, it is generally good practice not to overcharge. That is to say, don't leave it on the charger 24/7. Lithium ion batteries are not infallible: damage can range from shortened battery life to battery fire.

Experiment with your battery (use and charge pattern) while your device is under warranty. If the battery fries, get a replacement device.
