my fren handed me his HTC Incredible S for the night for updating it's firmware. i have download the 2.3.5 (it's latest) on the phone itself and chose install now. when it reboots it just gets stuck at android mascot logo and a big triangular with exclamation mark. i can't seem to get past it without removing the battery. is there a way to update this using PC or how can make OTA update go forward...

If he had an unlocked bootloader, you'll have to reflash stock.

If you are going to flash to stock, you might as well just root it, install CMW and get a good ICS ROM.

not my phone, he wants the latest update for his phone from HTC. it's currently running Sense 2.1 and 2.3.5 update gives Sense 3.0 which he wants.

If using an RUU you need to relock bootloader or be s-off

doesn't relocking the bootloader to Stock means being on S-ON o_O ?
used some xda tutorials and went from S-OFF to S-ON and now downloading the OTA update! will see if this processes perfectly.

If you were s-off before you shouldn't have had to s-on or relock to flash an RUU
but no just relocking the bootloader doesn't make you s-on

he wanted to have official 2.3.5 OTA update which wasn't happening for him. since Savage24x said it might be issue cuz of unlocked bootloader, i flash it to stock ROM and put it back to locked bootloader and tried again didn't work. so unlocked it again and just used 2.3.5 ROM directly.
