Can somebody please help me. I'm not a bumbling nubbins, I've symlinked teh apps folder, and assuming something change on my pod (though I don't see how) I re-symlinked it. I uninstalled apps, and the proper drive's space increased.

Now, I've got NO SPACE on my OS partition. I'm not sure what's on there and how it's eating up so much space, since the apps are on the other partition. What the heck do I do to fix this?

To help me explain how to free up some space on OS partition or check what's eating it properly (du by itself is too much output for my ssh prog and I'm not a shell wizard enuff to sort by the right column's output for size.. lol)

    Edit: Here's the DF output:
Filesystem 512-blocks Used Avail Capacity Mounted on
    /dev/disk0s1 614400 614272 0 100% /
    devfs 30 30 0 100% /dev
    /dev/disk0s2 31103856 22393528 8710328 72% /private/var
    #

Figured out the switch for du that I needed...:
    # du -hd 1
    8.0K ./.svn
    8.6M ./Library
    192M ./System
    5.1M ./bin
    0B ./cores
    1.0K ./dev
    11G ./private
    688K ./sbin
    85M ./usr
    11G .

Finding it odd that usr had so much, I went there and did it again:

    # du -hd 1
    8.0K ./.svn
    11M ./bin
    30M ./lib
    2.3M ./libexec
    14M ./local
    5.4M ./sbin
    21M ./share
    1.9M ./tcl8.4
    84M .
    #
Doesn't make much sense, wtf can't I see with ls -ash that is 84M...

No bloody clue what caused this, but I ripped my custom theme/battery out of the OS and DRM/restore/updated it out of frustration.

I symlinked again because I convinced myself that the new firmware (I've been out of the loop, so for me that was 1.1.2) had changed the dir structure around so that my stuff was symlinked to the same partition, or negated the symlink. I figured just in case, I'd try re-symlinking.

I don't think that re-symlinking would do any damage. (can't be sure) If there is no space on the partition, how many apps do you have installed? And did you use bosstools?

Use bosstool to symlink your fonts, that will free 80mb of space, and also that 84mb should be the system folder which is where most of the firmware is held.

EDIT: nevermind, I looked at your post again. That 84mb is weird, I would ssh into your ipod and look at the / directory and look around
