Yes thats right! Today is the last day to play Halo 2 online. Microsoft is shutting down the Xbox Live service for original Xbox games at the close of the day. To go out with a bang, Bungie has decided to reward anybody that plays on this final day with some free stuff.

The Members of Bungie will be online from 6-11 pm Pacific in the Team Slayer and Big Team Battle hoppers. You do not have to find them to get the prize. Bungie is promising some Halo: Reach flair and "plenty of other prizes."

Anybody that plays will get the Halo: Reach goods, which are currently unspecified. In order to win the other prizes, you'll have to meet one of the developer's secret metrics, which are also currently unspecified

The original Xbox LIVE service started in 2002 and paved the way for other consoles and services to connect gamers via the Web and changed the way video games are played and designed.

At least they already gave me my 400 microsoft points and 3 months Gold membership for compensation for this discontinuation of service. I won't complain.

Awe, sad. But I never played XBL original. I went from PS2 to Xbox 360.
