I have an jailbroke iphone 2g running on 2.2.1 which i JB some time ago. Recently the phone is having problems such as wifi button greyed out and no signal, the phone doesn't seem to find imei or iccd and network.
So i trying to restore it back to back to factory firmware so i could run 3.1.2 JB break.
When i tired to restore iphone i get an error code 23, and i can't seem to get the phone back to factory firmware. I have tired using pwangage tool 3.1.4 created customer restore firmware and tried to restore it but i got the same error message error 23 or sometimes error 1600.
I also tired blackra1n but no luck there, i ran it and then will reboot my phone and it will just boot it back up as if nothing happened.
Why is this so i m so confused is the iphone 2g bricked?

What version iTunes are you running?

You might not be able to restore it back to 2.2.1 with the latest version of iTunes (assuming that is what you are doing).

Have you tried a factory restore to 3.1.2? There is no issue with losing the unlock abilities with the 2G if that is a concern. I would get it up to 3.1.2 and then jailbreak and unlock it using Pwnage Tool.

I have not read through it all but might want to look at this thread.

I'd try DFU mode and see if you can do a factory restore from there.

Your Phone is NOT Bricked. I had this same problem a while back, and because i can't find my old thread to link to it, I'll just tell you what to do.

    Step 1:

    DFU Mode.

    Step 2:

Jailbreak using firmware 2.2.1 with Redsn0w.

    Step 3:

(once iPhone reboots and shows springboard again)
Open up iTunes and do a SHIFT + RESTORE

    Step 4 (optional):

    Re-Jailbreak. I recommend updating to 3.0.

I hope I was of some help.
