The core case looks rather wide, and thick.
The Incase Slider is good, but it comes with NO pack-ins. Basically, you're getting the case, and that's it.

The switcheasy doesn't look that bad, and it comes with a TON of pack-ins for $25.

Not for the Touch 1G. Touch 2G cases are now mostly all Slider clones, at least if they're from Griffin or Belkin.

I'd have to say the Slider for the 1G's better, since the CapsuleTouch has a reputation for the switch that holds the two halves together breaking.

is it something that consistently happens if you remove the case a lot?

Actually, from what I've read in reviews, just dropping it will cause the switch which holds everything together to break.
