OK. So OpenOffice opens, you know, the icon shows up in my dock.
It opens up xterm, and does nothing, says "Command Timed out"

    Then nothing happens.

NeoOffice is the official port of OpenOffice.org for Mac OS X. Please refer to my application's list.

Uhh, http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/ gives a direct link to the X11 download of OpenOffice Mac, and official OpenOffice Aqua ports.

Whilst Neooffice may be good, it's not official. Just based on the idea.

Yes, because people want to waste their time away installing X11 just so they can edit a file.

NeoOffice is better than OpenOffice on Mac even if it isn't official.. at least you don't need to waste a good 1 hour downloading it (depending on connection) and then installing it.

NeoOffice was one of the first programs I installed, and its met all my needs since. I tried OpenOffice about a month ago after I saw an ad for it, and was just not impressed. It was not as responsive, slower load times and the UI did not fit as well in the Mac environment. It was promptly removed from my machine.
