I wanted to know if anyone knows how to open a pdf with the ipod touch without converting it into the safari bookmark. Is there an application that lets you open pdfs?

i suppose you could use the books app and put the pdfs in the ebooks folder of the ipod touch or maybe you can use mobile preview

    pdf support

There is a pdfpreview in the works. Rather buggy though, only supports small pdfs. Google it, but I don't recommend it *yet*. It hasn't been released through installer.app for obvious reasons.

I use a combination of lighthttp and modification of its configuration file to list directories. Again, google is your friend. You can then just use safari with address 127.0.0.1 (loopback address) to serve all of your docs, pdfs, etc., and view easily, even with wifi shut off.

This may be a bit advanced for some, but wanted to mention it as I didn't at first think of it either. Works great.

i remember being successful at opening pdf files in the mail app (i use gmail)

just send it to yourself and open it in your mail app on your iPod

it opens up in a new window and you can zoom it in

i believe there is a new Installer app 'pdfviewer' on the list this morning
refresh and look for it, but you will still need to store your pdfs somewhere on the ipod

Thanks for all the replies. I got the pdfviewer from installer that went up this morning. You have to put the pdfs in the specific folder they tell you. Sorry I don't know it off hand right now but i think it is in the var/Media folder.

PDFView should work fine, not tested it myself yet though.

As for where to put the PDFs once installed, it pops up a little window and tells you.
I think its something like "var/root/Media/PDFs" or something similar.
