dont get me wrong, i love my new ipod touch. it has no problems at all. not a single light leak, no ticking when video taping, no overheating, no battery problems. its just perfect.

now the thing that really bugs me is related to sound
    1. the alarm sound sucks a** my 2g is louder when it comes to that.
    2. i like the speaker but somtimes my hand covers it and it greatly lowers the volume.
    3. last i hate when i turn the volume all the way down and open a game, the game sound is super loud...

the last one gets me the most. i was in class and i turned the volume all the way down. than after i opend Minigore and the sound was still on. and my teacher almost got me. this does not make any sense. hopefully this can be fixed when the jailbreak comes but for now i really hate it.

what are your ideas on this? and is there any known way to fix it without turning the game sounds off?

As a student, the solution to number three would to not use your iPod in class and pay attention so you can pass the class, but I digress.

Anyway, is the volume a consistant issue. Once Topple did it to me, but only once.

I think if you go into settings you can eliminate all alerts and sounds

control the regular volume when playing a song or when u open a app

    1. Agreed

    3. This is because there are 2 different sets of volumes. There's the volume for for all the system sounds (alarms, unlock, lock sounds etc) and then the volume for apps. I don't know why they did this, but it is indeed annoying. They should just keep one set that controls everything. But to just have one set controlled by the buttons, go to Settings > Sounds and turn 'Change with Buttons' to Off. But then you'll need to change the volume for your alarm from Settings.

What do you mean by your hand covering it? The whole device? Or do you put your fingers where the speaker is at?

Any problems with sound is a known issue. Look for it to be resolved when Apple releases the next firmware.
